![]() ![]() Low Profile live at the Mutiny in Chicago and u know me and Metko hit up Castles befored i dropped him off. the Romeros gave us some of their left over free drink tickets which we immediately used up on more beers and shots. We hung out a while after the Craven Dogs wrapped up. i’ll have to bust it out at a show sometime. they did a good cover of ‘Dancin Days’ by Led Zeppelin. these guys were super cool, id love to play with them again. they are from the SW side and have played lot 4, they actually know mark 4 and once we had a show booked with them that got canceled. we told him he’d better get ready for em cuz he’ll be hearing them over and over in a few months when we come record with him. Scott Herschler came out so this was his first time seeing our new songs. Some hippie dude was ripped and being cool with us, i think his name was cory. ![]() satans seen roundeye also (at double door with rocky denis a while back) and said they were pretty awesome too. he was there anyways, since he books the shows and also is the soundman. these guys were an awesome and fun live band.īrettly from the band roundeye (RIP) was supposed to play with us but didnt becuase his band broke up. it was fun but i think we were too drunk and yelling them out too loud. and we marched while Specialist Metko had us do military marching songs. Metko got some pics of us on the way from the van to the club. i had to park the van like 4 blocks away so everytime we needed to go to the van “to talk” we’d have to hike in the cold rain. ![]() me and Metko played some real good games of pool. I'm not anti-Mutiny, I'm just a bit wary. This place is pretty awesome and was a lot of fun. Since so many of my friends like it and it's within walking distance of my apartment, I'd love to go back. I'd like to come back on a different night to give it a try. I didn't get that vibe at all, especially considering I was overcharged by the female bartender. ![]() Usually dives have great owners and bartenders because they're friendly with the locals and their friends. It's a dive, which is awesome, but the service really sucks. Hence my extra star.Īll in all, I was no impressed with my first experience here. My boyfriend is a musician and he loves supporting local acts, so it's great that there's a place he can come to get a (theoretical) cheap drink and listen to some local bands for free. However, my boyfriend did point out that a place like the Mutiny is great for people who really love seeing live music because there's no cover. If I had known I was going to be subjected to the terrible sounds of some no-name "pop-punk" band, I would have avoided this place altogether. How could my friend have paid way less for more and I got dicked out of $11 for shitty beer? I'm not happy at all.Īlso, the bands here suck. What?! This place is supposed to be a dive with cheap drinks - how did this happen? I can only assume we were gypped somehow but I'm not really sure why. Also, if we assume the mini pitcher was $7, that means the pint of Bud was $4. Outrageous, especially for a shitty dive. Let's say (theoretically) the mini pitcher was $7 - that means they're charging $3.50 for a pint of PBR because that mini pitcher only holds about 2 and 1/4 pints. I'm not sure how much either of my drinks were, but I'll assume the mini pitcher was more expensive than the pint. What?! My friend paid $20 for three shots and two mixed drinks and I ended up paying $11 for BEER. Here's where my experience turned sour: $11 for a mini pitcher of PBR and a pint of Bud Light. We were close to the back where the bands play, as I assume the front fills quickly with people trying to be as far away from the terrible bands as possible. The bar was full when we arrived so there was really no seating to speak of. So the place itself is pretty big, which is nice. I will definitely have to go back here on another night to get another experience. Man, I don't know what it is lately, but I'm just not impressed with bars I come across. Oh yeah, and if you are a dude, check out the bathroom. Thanks to the ban, you have to stay outside in the freezing cold. The one thing that sucks is this is one of those bars that should be a smoking bar. Don't go if you are expecting some high class shit. There is definitely a set of regulars that you will see. He's sometimes checking IDs and mingling with the crowd. That's still a pretty decent price, and I guess it makes up for the lack of cover. On nights with bands, it's upped to $6 for 32oz. I think it's $3.75 for a 32oz half pitcher. I actually prefer the nights when there are no bands playing, cause it's more of a chill atmosphere. Free Golden Tee, free pool, free darts (metal tipped too, not crap plastic). Mutiny is probably the best dive bar in Chicago - hands down. ![]()
